Loads – the costs of buying a fund

Loads are sales commissions paid to the financial planners, brokers or investment advisors and cover the cost of marketing and advertising of the fund and/or the expertise of the investment intermediary

Sales commission fees (loads) are paid either when you purchase the fund (front-end load) or when you redeem your shares (back-end load).

Funds that do no charge additional fees outside of the expense ratio are called no load funds.
